Bruce Willis was surrounded by his entire blended family in a touching snapshot posted by his wife, Emma Hemming, on Thanksgiving.
He has five daughters – Mabel, 11, and Evelyn, nine, whom he has with Emma, as well as Rumer, 35, Scout, 32, and Tallulah, 29, with his first wife Demi Moore.
All of his children and two wives have rallied around Bruce, as the 68-year-old film star battles a battle with dementia.
They are all pictured with him in Emma’s flashback shot, along with Scout’s friend Jake Miller and Rumer’s lover Derek Richard Thomas.
At the time of the photo, Rumer was apparently still pregnant with her and Derek Luetta’s daughter, whom she gave birth to in April.
“I’m grateful and thankful to know this kind of love,” Emma wrote in a caption filled with heart emojis. “Have you all a happy Thanksgiving.”
Just three days ago, Rumer posted a touching photo of herself as a little girl in Bruce’s arms and wrote: “I really miss my dad today.”
Her post came about a month after a heartbreaking update from one of Bruce’s old friends about the decline of his dementia.
Glenn Gordon Caron, who created the star-making sitcom Moonlighting in the 1980s, shared his experiences visiting the movie star in the midst of his illness.
“My feeling is the first one to three minutes he knows who I am,” Glenn said in his devastating interview. Page six. ‘It’s not quite verbal. He was an avid reader – and he didn’t want anyone to know that – and he doesn’t read now.
“All those language skills are no longer available to him, yet he’s still Bruce,” Glenn, who also created Medium, revealed.
“When you’re with him you know it’s Bruce and you’re grateful he’s there, but the joy of life is gone,” he added.
Last year, Bruce withdrew from the entertainment industry amid his battle with aphasia, which causes a patient’s language abilities to deteriorate.
Then in March this year his family announced that his disease had “progressed” and he was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD).
Since Bruce’s battle with aphasia began, Glenn has apparently tried to pay him monthly visits, but that hasn’t always worked.
The TV writer admitted: “I’m not always well, but I try and talk to him and his wife and I have a casual relationship with his three older children.” She tried so hard to stay in his life.
“The thing that makes,” Glenn shared. [his disease] So what’s amazing is that if you’ve spent time with Bruce Willis, there’s no one who has more fun in life than him.
Bruce “loved waking up every morning and trying to live life to the fullest,” but now he lives as if he “sees life through a glass door.”
“Travel junkie. Coffee lover. Incurable social media evangelist. Zombie maven.”
