Samuel Chukwueze scored a late goal in the match as Villarreal stunned Bayern Munich to reach the Champions League semi-finals for the first time in 16 years.
Unai Emery masterminded the 1-0 win in Spain, but dominant Bayern looked in control when Robert Lewandowski broke the score in the 52nd minute at the Allianz Arena.
But, with only his team’s second shot on target in the legs, Chukwueze leveled in the first half in the 88th minute to give Villarreal the lead on aggregate – and hand them a historic victory over the six-times European champions.
They will face the winner of Liverpool against Benfica in the last four, a competition that Jurgen Klopp’s team currently leads 3-1 on aggregate.
