Banksy unveils seventh piece of street art in the past week

Elusive artist Banksy has been posting animal-inspired graffiti in London for the past week – his latest work being a group of piranhas on a police guard booth.

The new killer fish graffiti was first spotted on Sunday morning and is among seven new Banksy pieces scattered across the city in two days.

The street artist’s new series of artworks also includes a goat, a pair of elephants, three monkeys, a wolf howling under the moon, two swans, and an elongated cat, according to recent Instagram posts where the art is credited.

A collection of piranhas that appear to be swimming in an aquarium are housed in a glass box at the London Police on Ludgate Hill near the Old Bailey and St Paul’s Cathedral. According to the BBC.

Crowds reportedly quickly arrived to take photos of the new art inside the kiosk before authorities installed barriers.

Artist Daniel Lloyd Morgan described the art week as “exhilarating”.

“It’s not just about the artwork, it’s about the whole environment that it creates, the artwork itself becomes a kind of artwork – what happens to it, do people steal it or take it away,” he told the BBC.

Some of the new pieces didn’t last long.

Alleged thieves removed the wolf on a satellite dish, and the cat on an empty billboard was removed by contractors who plan to donate it to an art gallery, According to the Guardian.

A spokesperson for the City of London Corporation said in a statement to the newspaper that it is working to ensure the preservation of the piranhas in the police box.
