Bama Rush Turns Sorority Candidates Into TikTok Celebrities
The Bama Rush trend is taking over TikTok. These would-be sisters are showing off their outfits on social media.
Bama Rush Week has come to an end at the University of Alabama, concluding with Bidding Day.
All the preparation, clothing selection and inner workings of recruiting sisters were summed up the moment potential new members, PNMs, opened their paper envelopes at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Sunday, August 18 to see which sisters they would be joining. After what is called a “run home,” they were greeted by their “Big Sister” (the designated Big Brother/Mentor) and the new sisters in the sisterhood and given T-shirts, hats and other items bearing the Greek letters of the sister.
Bid Day marks the end of Bama Rush Week, but it’s just the beginning for these young women as they embark on their college experience as members of a sorority.

Back then, outfit days, or OOTDs, before Rush Week events began to catch the attention of users obsessed with the style and fashion choices of the young women competing. It’s an online phenomenon that continues to take social media by storm year after year. It even inspired a documentary called “Bama Rush: Acceptance Is Everything,” which premiered on streaming service Max in May 2023.
