Minneapolis – A woman had to be escorted off the floor at Target Center during game play at the Minnesota Timberwolves Tuesday night after she apparently tried to stick herself on a baseline under a basket.
The crash occurred during the second quarter, as the Timberwolves were trying to recover from a slow start. The Timberwolves need to beat the Clippers to win the #7 seed in the Western Playoffs, or else they face the Spurs or Pelicans on Friday night with their season on the line.
With about 3:34 left in the first half, a protester got down on the floor and stuck her hand on the court. The woman, a protester identified in a press release as Alicia Santorio, was wearing a T-shirt that read, “Glen Taylor roast animals alive.” She was protesting the mass killing of chickens at Rembrandt Enterprises, an egg factory in Iowa owned by Taylor.
Soon, two police officers escorted the woman off the ground. The game was paused for a few minutes as the Target Center staff worked to clean up the mess.
The Timberwolves released a statement about the incident during the second half of Tuesday’s game.
The incident led to the spread of many jokes on social media.
