AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE 16GB Launching July 28th, May Have Navi 3X GPU

According to a tweet by @employeeAMD is preparing to launch its new RX 7900 GRE graphics card this week. Other sources have echoed this date, but it remains uncertain if it will be released to the market or a review bar.

The RX 7900 GRE is reported to be a new desktop GPU, featuring 84 compute units. It’s strikingly similar to the Radeon RX 7900 XT, with one notable exception: the graphics card is said to include 16 GB of VRAM over 256 bits Memory bus, a detail confirmed by the leaked packaging of the Sapphire NITRO+.

Upon closer inspection, significant changes can be seen in the PCB design compared to the RX 7900 XT. Not only does the new design feature a narrower profile, but it also has fewer power connectors and a different SMD layout behind the GPU. In addition, the smaller GPU mount leads to strong speculation that the RX 7900 GRE may be the first model to integrate a Navi 31/32 hybrid GPU. This hybrid GPU is expected to use a smaller package, closer to the size of the upcoming Navi 32 SKU.
