We finally got a proper look at the first major DLC for Alan Wake 2. At Summer Game Fest, Remedy showed up to show off Night Springs. Better yet, it comes out tomorrow.
Night Springs is technically about Alan Wake himself, following him as he writes the scripts for the in-universe TV show, Night Springs… and deals with its impact on his reality in the Dark Place and the real world. But you won’t be playing as Alan this time: you’ll be playing as a number of different characters across three different episodes, and you’ll have to get to know them all… sort of. Although the people you play with may look familiar, you’re actually playing Night Springs versions of them, which may offer a new twist on people you thought you knew.
The Night Springs expansion for Alan Wake 2 launches tomorrow.

The three characters include the Actor, based on Tim Breaker; Waitress, based on Rose Marigold from Oh Deer Diner; and Brother, based on control protagonist Jesse Faden. The latter is a particularly eye-catching development, as we’ll see an alternate version of Jessie searching for her brother in Coffee World.
In addition to the new story content, the free update on June 8 will add a photo mode to Alan Wake 2 for all players.
The Night Springs DLC comes with the Alan Wake 2 Expansion Pass, included in the Digital Deluxe Edition. Standard Edition owners can purchase an upgrade to Deluxe for $20, which will also include the upcoming The Lake House DLC when it releases in October. DLC is also included in two new physical copies of the game announced today, for which pre-orders will begin on June 8. The physical Deluxe Edition and Limited Collector’s Edition will include not only the game and DLC, but a number of bonuses. Including special skins for Saga and Alan.
It should come as no surprise that Night Springs is showing up today, as Remedy has been teasing the DLC for weeks, including changing the name of her official Twitter/X account to “Poison Pill Entertainment” and posting the following retro TV logo:

We’ve known that Alan Wake 2 would be getting DLC for a while, and there’s more on the way. Remedy has stated that a second DLC titled The Lakehouse is scheduled to be released in October. We don’t know much about this, other than these vague official messages:
“The Lake House is a mysterious facility located on the shores of Lake Cauldron, created by an independent government organization to conduct secret research… until something goes wrong. Explore the Lake House and embark on two separate adventures as the realities of Saga Anderson and Alan Wake collide once again.
Despite rumors that its sales were poor, Alan Wake 2 was Remedy’s fastest-selling game of all time as of February, and the company seems happy with its success. We gave it a 9/10, calling Alan Wake 2 “a brilliant survival horror sequel that makes the original classic feel like nothing more than a rough first draft by comparison.”
