The director of maritime navigation in Western Sicily, Admiral Raffaele Macoda, could not confirm how long it would take to recover the wreckage of the sunken yacht.

“Everything depends on the availability of the owners and the time frame for the recovery of the wreck and of course all that must be presented to the port authorities and in parallel of course there will be the results of the investigation and only then will we be able to approve the operation,” he said.

“I can’t say, like some of the experts who have already talked about this, that it will take eight weeks.”

Friends of Ricaldo “Rick” Thomas have paid tribute to their “brave” and “selfless” friend who was found in the waters near the luxury yacht “Baizian”.

She added that she was not surprised to learn that Hannah was beginning to show “serious literary promise.”
