Donald Trump is very angry, and he does not hide it.
One day before the Democratic National Convention, with Vice President Kamala Harris touring a key swing state where she recently won Turned the ballot tables Accordingly, Trump embarked on a campaign to publish on Truth Social.
The former president posted or reposted his own content more than 25 times on his Truth Social account on Sunday, flooding his followers’ feeds with crazy rhetoric, false claims and AI-generated images of Taylor Swift fans supporting his campaign.
“I agree!” he wrote over screenshots of the fake Swifties, apparently in reference to their fake support.
The images were originally posted to X on Friday and Saturday by two well-known right-wing accounts, one of which mixed the doctored images with real photos of a blonde woman wearing a “Swifties for Trump” T-shirt at a rally. (The term briefly trended on the platform Friday night, but there’s no evidence of a larger movement.)
He also shared an image — created by the same X account earlier this week — of New York Post Print showing Harris speaking in front of a communist symbol. On XAfter months of silence, Trump recently began posting photos of Harris speaking to a crowd of communists at the Democratic convention, which doesn’t start until Monday. The origin of the photo is unclear.
Reached out for comment by CNN Regarding the second altered image, a Trump campaign spokesman responded with the title of the first image, which is the abbreviated term “Camonism.”
Trump continued to write late into the afternoon and early evening, and one post focused on one of his current favorite obsessions: crowd sizes at campaign rallies.
“We had to turn away so many people yesterday in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, but Comrade Kamala Harris’ social media operation showed empty seats, long before the rally even started, early in the afternoon, when in reality we had to turn away 11,500 people!” he wrote in part. “She is a crooked radical left-wing politician, and always will be!”
Harris’s Director of Rapid Response, Ammar Musa, responded to X with (real) photos showing the small attendance at Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania.
“Donald Trump doesn’t let anyone know he spoke to an empty arena yesterday. Don’t say that. Seriously. Don’t do that,” Musa wrote on Twitter.
Jeff Timmer, former executive director of the Michigan Republican Party and current senior adviser to the Lincoln Project, also noted Trump’s attempts to adapt.
“It looks like someone woke up on the panicked side of the bed today,” he said. I tweeted.
Trump also took a short break to speak to Van Jones, who appeared angry that the CNN commentator had praised Harris’ economic platform on a broadcast earlier this week.
“Thank God we finally heard from a Democrat who is speaking out forcefully about raising prices,” Jones said in an appearance on CNN on Friday. operating roomaccording to The hillHe also praised Harris for her “strength” and “cheerful politics.”
Trump posted a screenshot of the remarks: “While in the Oval Office, tearfully in his eyes, lighthearted political commentator Van Jones begged me to help get criminal justice reform passed by the United States Senate.
“I got the job done with the help of the governors, and that bastard Jones never once called to thank me, or the others who helped us, for what we did,” he grumbled.
Trump continued to remind his followers that he had done more for black Americans while in office than any other president — with one possible exception.
“Along with opportunity zones, long-term funding for historically black colleges and universities, and so much more, you have done more for our black population than anyone, except perhaps Abraham Lincoln!!! Sorry, but that’s just the way it goes!!!”
This claim is an old talking point of his, something he repeats ad nauseam in TweetsAt campaign rallies, and most recently at the National Association of Black Journalists. conference In Chicago. (Experts told Washington Post In 2020, the list of presidents who did more for black civil rights than Trump included: Lyndon Johnson, Ulysses S. Grant, Harry Truman, and Barack Obama.
Jones noted Monday that Trump appeared to be fading due to the drop in media coverage he received in the weeks after President Joe Biden announced he would not seek re-election, paving the way for Harris’ candidacy and revitalizing Democratic hopes.
“He’s faltering and faltering. Listen, they’re saying this is the worst three weeks of his campaign,” said a CNN contributor. Anderson Cooper saidThat’s what the press says.
“This is the year he was indicted, convicted, shot — and actually wounded — by a bullet, and none of that is as bad for him as not getting the same amount of attention that Kamala got.”
Opinion polls It was published. by The New York Times Last weekend, Siena College found Harris leading Trump by four points in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania; by five points in Arizona; and by two points in North Carolina.
