American track and field gold medalist Sydney McLaughlin Levrone shares her feelings about her racing abilities and what goes through her mind when she wins.
SAINT-DENIS, France — The gold medal will go to the United States in the women’s 4×100 relay.
The U.S. women’s relay team of Gabby Thomas and Shaquiree Richardson, along with Melissa Jefferson and Tawanisha Terry, took first place in the race, clocking a season-best time of 41.78 seconds.
Great Britain finished second with a time of 41.85 seconds, while Germany achieved their best time of the season by winning third place with a time of 41.97 seconds.
Thomas had a good third stage, with Richardson taking the win on the final stage in wet conditions.
The U.S. women finished second at the Tokyo Olympics behind a star-studded Jamaican team, but Jamaica was without all of its stars, including Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Shericka Jackson and Elaine Thompson-Herah, due to various injuries.
The U.S. women’s team was the most dominant team ever on the track, sweeping every relay on their way to the Olympic gold medal.
This is Thomas’ second gold medal at this Olympics. She won the 200-meter race on Tuesday, Richardson’s first Olympic gold medal. She finished second in the 100-meter race last Saturday.
