Richard Simmons can finally rest in peace.
A private funeral was held for the fitness champion in Los Angeles on Friday with his family and closest friends in attendance. The news comes nearly a week after Simmons was found unconscious by his housekeeper on Saturday, July 13, at his home, just one day after he turned 76.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
“My beloved Dick was laid to rest this morning surrounded only by family and close friends,” said his manager, Tom Estey. the people On behalf of Simmons’ brother, Lenny. “We are praying for your continued love and support during this very difficult time.”
Simmons was buried at the Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park and Mortuary, according to his death certificate obtained by TMZThe document did not mention the cause of death, indicating that the method is still under investigation.
The weight-loss guru – whose real name was Milton Teagle “Richard” Simmons – reportedly fell in his bath the night before his death, with sources telling the newspaper he refused medical attention despite his housekeeper’s concern.
Insiders said he felt dizzy before the fall but refused help because he wanted to be home for his birthday.
The Post confirmed from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office that Simmons’ cause of death is pending investigation. That was also noted on his death certificate, according to TMZ.
It may take up to three months before the cause is determined.
While the TV personality’s death remains a mystery, a source said police are “not continuing to investigate as if there was a homicide at this stage.”
Simmons, who revealed in March that he had been diagnosed with skin cancer, had been reclusive for more than a decade before his death. While his decision to step away from the Hollywood spotlight had fans worried, the famed exercise guru gave an update on his health in a rare interview published just a day before his death.

Simmons also shared that he was working on a Broadway show about his life and expressed how much he missed his loyal fans.

Simmons’ brother released a touching message following his death.
“I don’t want people to feel sad about my brother. I want them to remember him for the true joy and love he brought into people’s lives,” Lenny wrote on Simons Official Website“He really cared about people. He called, wrote and emailed thousands of people throughout his career offering to help.”
Lenny urged fans to “celebrate his life,” adding: “We are in shock. Please respect the family during this difficult time.”
