British comedian Tony Knight, also known as Dog Listener, has died after a freak accident at a festival in France. A family member confirmed to Fox News Digital that Knight, 54, was killed after a large tree branch fell on him in June at the Rock & Cars festival in Lavaur.
According to French outlets Why Tarn Libre?Two branches fell from a large tree on the festival grounds, killing the rider and injuring four others.
“He was fit, healthy, happy and everything was going his way.” Joan Allen, the sister of Knight’s longtime partner Hayley Wright, wrote on Knight’s GoFundMe page:“He was charismatic, funny, compassionate and deeply loved by Hayley, his family and friends around the world.”
In addition to his work as a comedian, Knight turned his passion for dogs into a second career as a dog trainer. “He helped people all over the world through his lessons, whether in person, online, on radio and television, through e-books, and more,” Allen wrote. “He was highly respected and admired. His method worked and he loved helping people with their dogs.”
The knight presented his comedy show. Mad Dogs and the Englishman In various venues in Australia and abroad and was about to perform a series of shows across the UK, Allen wrote.
“We are deeply saddened that his life was taken in a freak accident, one that we are all still trying to understand,” Allen added.
His partner, Hailey, wrote a tribute to him on Instagram a few days after his death.
“He was an exceptionally talented man, with so many skills,” she wrote. “There was truly nothing he couldn’t do. He was a great friend to so many people, a wonderful dog daddy… but most of all he was my world and it will never be the same without him.”
“He probably could have ended his speech with a joke, but that’s his talent, not mine… He really saw the bright side of every situation. My heart is really broken and I’m in shock,” he concluded.
