In their third meeting in the WNBA, Angel Reese finally defeated Caitlin Clark.

Reese had her best game as a pro, dominating with a career-high 25 points and 16 rebounds while leading the Sky to a 88-87 thriller on Sunday in Chicago.

The 22-year-old Reese, whose layup broke a tie with 53 seconds left, extended her WNBA rookie record with her eighth straight double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing five rebounds in the fourth quarter.

The Sky (6-9) trailed by 12 points with 6:38 remaining in the fourth but outscored the Fever 18-5 for the rest of the game to snap Indiana’s four-game winning streak.

Indiana (7-11) won the first two matches between the two teams this season.

Clark scored 17 points and set a franchise record with 13 assists, but did not make a shot over the final two minutes, her final attempt coming on a missed 3-pointer with 2:19 remaining that tied the score 84-84.

The No. 1 pick also had six rebounds and four steals.

Reese, who was called for a flagrant foul after hitting Clark in the head during the previous meeting last Sunday, shot 8-for-12 from the field and made nine of 11 free throw attempts.

Sky guard Chindi Carter, who committed a flagrant foul with a blind hip check on Clark during the team’s first meeting, scored 23 points on 8-for-12 shooting with five assists.

While Clark appeared to have escaped Sunday’s game unscathed, things were volatile between Reese and Fever forward Nalyssa Smith throughout the game, and both were called for technicals with 3:12 remaining in the fourth period after an altercation.
