Willie Nelson, Missy Elliott and more join the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Willie Nelson, Missy Elliott, Sheryl Crow and George Michael are among the 2023 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, along with Rage Against the Machine.
Willie Nelson is resting on doctor’s orders.
A statement posted on his social media pages said the 91-year-old singer had canceled his Outlaw Music Festival tour appearance on Friday for health reasons.
“We regret to inform you that Willie Nelson is not feeling well and, on doctor’s orders, has been advised to rest for the next four days.” The statement said.
According to the announcement, Nelson is expected to recover quickly.
No additional information was provided about Nelson’s health. USA TODAY has reached out to Nelson’s representatives.
Nelson was scheduled to perform Friday in Georgia as part of the Outlaw Music Festival Tour, which he is headlining. He was also scheduled to perform Saturday and Sunday in North Carolina.
“I’m so excited to be back on the road again with my family and friends playing the music we love to the audiences we love,” he said in February when the festival’s lineup was revealed.

The announcement posted on Nelson’s social media pages said the singer is expected to join the Outlaw Music Festival tour next week, and in the meantime, his son Lukas Nelson and guests will perform a “special set” including Nelson’s classics. The round is Set to move to Virginia and New York from June 26 to June 29.
This comes after Nelson was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year. The “On the Road Again” singer performed with Chris Stapleton, Dave Matthews and Sheryl Crow during the induction ceremony.
“Thank you for appreciating my music,” Nelson said at the time.

In April, Nelson collaborated with Orville Peck to produce a duet cover of “Cowboys Secretly Love Each Other Often”, a 1981 song about gay cowboys. in Interview with SaeedBeck compared Nelson’s support for the LGBTQ+ community to that of Dolly Parton.
“I think the fact that Willie stood up for the entire LGBTQIA+ community by performing this song just shows what an amazing person he is, and what a legend he is,” Beck said. “It’s a win-win for all of us because this is a true alliance. Someone who’s completely unafraid to be there alongside us, there’s no ambiguity about it.”
Nelson’s latest album, “The Border,” was debuted in May.
Fans sent their well wishes to Nelson in the comments of his Instagram statement. “Good luck, Willie,” Questlove wrote.
