A record participation in the English Championship at the Emirates

More than 60,000 fans set a new attendance record for the English Women's Championship during Arsenal's 3-1 win at the Emirates against Manchester United in London on Saturday.

The north London ground, usually reserved for the men's team, sold out for the first time in the history of the Women's Super League.

“Another league record, another historic moment,” wrote Arsenal Club on the X Network, announcing an attendance of 60,160.

The previous attendance record in the WSL was in December, when 59,042 were recorded during Arsenal's (4-1) victory over four-time champions Chelsea, already at the Emirates.

Before Saturday, only one women's football match had been played behind closed doors at the Gunners' stadium: 60,063 people counted for the visit of Wolfsburg in May 2023 (a 3-2 defeat) in the semi-finals of the Champions League, a record. For Women's Clubs in England.

Saturday's win moves third-placed Arsenal ahead of Manchester United (4th, 24 points) with 31 points to move closer to joint-leaders Chelsea and Manchester City (34 points).
