I’ve been hearing about Black Friday deals for a few weeks, but today I heard about it the day. Once again, Samsung US is taking a chance on you to try out the Shop Samsung app with some exclusive discounts. You can go to the online store too, although you’ll need a student discount to get the same price cuts that the app offers.
Let’s start with foldable devices. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 comes with a free storage upgrade to 512GB and you can get a 25% discount through the app. The student discount is also 25%, but they don’t stack. What matters is the trading balance – you can reduce the price by up to $1,000. Note: The free storage upgrade is also available through the online store but only for today.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 is getting a 25% discount through the app and you can get a trade-in credit of up to $600. The student discount is actually slightly higher at 30%. Note that the trade-in credit is subtracted from the MSRP first, and the discount percentage is applied second.
If you’re not a fan of foldable devices, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has a better camera setup and a place to place the S Pen without a case. It has a 25% discount through the app or you can get a 25% discount for students from the online store. In either case, the maximum business credit is $800.
You can also purchase Samsung accessories. An $80 discount on the Galaxy Watch6 is available through the app and online store.
There’s also the Galaxy Buds2 Pro – if you want a discount on those, you can get $70 off through the app and online store.
Here are some entertainment options to wrap things up. If you have room to put a screen for your projector, you can get the Samsung Freestyle (2nd Gen) for 25% off. The projector will detect details such as focus, keystone correction, etc. Just select the movie you want to watch. Or you can use it to play a game using Game Hub (which supports the major game streaming services).
For gaming, you might be better off with the 57-inch Samsung Odyssey Neo G9, which is two 4K displays side-by-side (with no bezel in between). It’s a curved display (1000R), a mini LED panel with a DisplayHDR 1000 rating (1000 nits) and a 240Hz refresh rate (1ms gray-to-gray response time).
