Michigan State statement after Adolf Hitler’s parade at Spartan Stadium

Michigan State has cut ties with an outside source after an image of Adolf Hitler appeared on the scoreboard at Spartan Stadium before Saturday’s rivalry football game against Michigan.

“We deeply regret the content that was displayed, as it does not represent our institutional values,” Michigan State University said in part of its statement. “MSU will not use a third-party source in the future and will implement stronger screening and approval procedures for all video board content in the future.”

The source of the third party was not immediately clear.

The photo appeared about 80 minutes before kick-off as part of a trivia challenge and quickly went viral.

The incident occurred on the same day that Detroit synagogue president Samantha Wall was found stabbed to death outside her home, and comes amid heightened global sensitivity about rising anti-Semitism against the backdrop of the war between Israel and Hamas.
