Baldur’s Gate 3 player moved to Reddit To share their incredible ordeal, as they fail a skill check of 0 thanks to the game’s dice mechanic.

Baldur’s Gate 3 was initially released in August and received immediate praise from all corners. Its deep, branching narrative and seemingly endless gameplay modes combine to make the game one of the most distinctive genre entries ever.

Within that, one of the main mechanics is dice rolls. One of the key features of the Dungeons & Dragons TTRPG was moved to add a sense of luck and create story threads that players would have otherwise avoided.

Although some ability modifiers make success more likely, one player recently fell on the wrong end of a particularly unforgiving mechanic.

A player impossibly failed a skill check of 0 in Baldur’s Gate 3

For those unfamiliar, the game roll 1 is a huge failure. This means that rolling a 1 is always a failure regardless of any modifiers. This may be difficult to accept in general, but the devastation went even further in one recent case.

In a post on Reddit, a user shared his crucial failed experience in Baldur’s Gate 3. The roll took place next to Cazador’s coffin (without Astarion present). A player’s roll needs to be 0, and a player’s roll of 1 is still considered a failure despite being a higher number.
