Review by Valerie
Thanks to VOST, for example, we are all more or less bilingual! Or, at least, we can understand and be understood in English. However, a serial view of Shakespeare’s language will give us the correct grammar, especially when the colloquial language of some performances is inadequate for professional conversation.
Many books try to correct our shortcomings, but we agree that this one stands out for its willingness to confront our ideas and our questions. It’s borderline minded, all things considered, and it’s as entertaining as it is insightful. It gives us the feeling that we are face to face with a good and talented teacher. A conversation takes place from somewhere.
The book is divided into 100 common mistakes. It starts with a sentence in French, and how most of us would translate it into English. The narrator (Mouth!) interjects with a correction. Follows the rule to follow, with some examples and a quiz where you are asked to translate a few sentences, the solution is found on the next page.
It is explained and the model is modern and we imagine having fun while experiencing great progress in linguistic practice. We want to delve deeper into what we want to fix, as we choose examples that are relevant to what we want to fix.
