iPhone 15 charging cable may be long enough for actual use

iPhone 15 charging cable may be long enough for actual use

While we await Apple’s announcement of the iPhone 15, exciting charging cable rumors continue to roil the month. The latest information adds to the number of ways Apple may be improving its charging cords.

according to @employeeApple is increasing the length of its charging cables from 1 meter (3.28 feet) to 1.5 meters (4.92 feet). This is good news for those times when you are Wall mounted while charging and try to use your iPhone.

Pictures and details of the USB-C charging cable were shared on Twitter (now X) by Kosutami and Majin Booanother participant in the iPhone parts preview party.

Another new detail today is how the color-matched USB-C cables are packaged.

The cables rely on a braided outer material that feels less flexible than Apple’s existing iPhone charging cables. These cables are also thicker than other Apple braided charging cables used with Mac peripherals, MagSafe chargers, and Apple Watch Ultra.

The thickness and long reach might make it less likely to be bundled into an iPhone 15 box. However, these cables feature the reinforcement underneath the plastic connector that you’d expect in iPhone cables.

At this point, these cables remain a mystery. Maybe Apple will sell them separately. Perhaps they will be packaged like watch straps under Apple watches. Maybe they’ll end up with iMacs that have USB-C peripherals. Finally, the Magic Mouse update puts the USB-C port at the bottom.

Anyway, we should know in three weeks. Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 15 line on September 12th.
