Chris Hemsworth addresses Marvel backlash from Tarantino, Scorsese

Chris Hemsworth doesn’t marvel at the negativity of the franchise that made him famous: the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Australian national, 39, is speaking With GQ in a new interview About the backlash from Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino to the beloved superhero film series.

Hemsworth has played Thor in several Marvel movies since 2011. His most recent role was last year’s “Thor: Love and Thunder.”

“It’s very disappointing when I hear that,” Hemsworth said of the famous director’s remarks. “There are two of my heroes that I wouldn’t work with. I guess they just aren’t my fans.”

However, he is “grateful” to have the chance to play the Norse god.

“Now, whether or not those films are at the expense of other films, I don’t know,” the “Star Trek” actor continued. “I don’t like when we start checking each other out when there is so much fragility at work and in this space for the arts as it is.”

Despite comments from Scorsese, 80, and Tarantino, 60, Hemsworth still calls them his “heroes.”

The father-of-three continued, “In a heartbeat I would jump in to work with any of them. But I’m telling it more to the broader opinion on the subject. I don’t think any of us have the answer, but we’re trying.”

The director of “Kill Bill” stated in The “2 Bears, 1 Cave” podcast Last year, Hollywood’s lack of movie stars could be attributed to the MCU.

“Part of the Marvel-ization of Hollywood is…you have all these actors who become famous playing these characters. But they’re not movie stars. Right? Captain America is the star. Or Thor is the star,” said the “Django Unchained” screenwriter, who is He shakes his head.

The Tennessee native added, “I mean, I’m not the first person to say that, I think that’s been said over a million times. But it’s these franchise characters that have become stars.”

As for the “Gangs of New York” director, he claimed that Marvel films should not be considered cinema.

He told Empire magazine in 2019: “Honestly, the closest I can think of, as it is to actors doing their best under these circumstances, is theme parks. It’s not the cinema of human beings that tries to transfer emotional and psychological experiences to another human being.”
