Avril Lavigne and Mod Sun quit.
Less than a year after their engagement, the pop-punk musicians decided to end their relationship, according to sources close to the couple.
“Avril and Mod Sun have been on and off for the past two months, but they are no longer together as a couple,” said an insider.
Lavigne, 38, and Mod Sun, 35, were last seen in public at a pre-Grammys event celebrating Julie Greenwald and Craig Kallman in LA.
earlier this week, TMZ She posted photos of the singer-songwriter Girlfriend hugging rapper Tyga after a meal at Nobu. The photos sparked dating rumors between the two musicians, but a source told PEOPLE, “Avril and Tyga are true friends and nothing more. There was no third party involved in the split.”
Representatives for Mod Sun and Lavigne have not commented.
Lavigne and Mod Sun, whose real name is Derek Smith, met in January 2021 and released a collaborative song, “Flames,” that same month. They were first linked romantically the following month and later got engaged in April 2022.
The Minnesota-born rocker has released his latest album God save figs Earlier this month, he’s featuring a song called “Avril’s Song” and a collaboration with his then-partner called “Shelter.”
In a recent interview with H! NewsIn Exclaim!, Maude Sun described Avril’s Song as “simultaneously dark and sweet”, stating that its lyrics are “a perfect metaphor” for how he was affected by the relationship.
“I found such a partner in this world to delve into the mess that life gives you,” he told the outlet. “I found this one. I’m with a mature woman that I’ve been with all 10 times and she makes me a better person.”
