The head of the Ukrainian aircraft engine construction company was arrested on charges of high treason

(Reuters) – Ukrainian media reported on Saturday, citing security sources, that a former owner of a prestigious aircraft engine manufacturer in central Ukraine had been arrested for treason.

Several prominent Ukrainian media said that Vyacheslav Bogoslav, the “honorary head” of Motor Sich in the central city of Zaporizhia, was arrested and taken to Kyiv in a convoy.

The reports quoted security sources as saying that Bogoslav, a former member of parliament, is suspected of collaborating with and aiding Russian forces occupying parts of four Ukrainian regions, including the Zaporizhzhya region.

The city of Zaporizhzhia is still under Ukrainian control.

The reports quoted security sources as saying that the investigators had to break down the front door of Bogoslaev’s house to conduct a search.

Prominent journalist Irina Rumaleska, who wrote on Facebook and also quoted security sources, said Bogoslav is known for his pro-Russian views. She wrote that he was suspected of supplying parts for helicopters and planes to Russia and of having contacts with the Russian special services.

Moror Sich is a well-known manufacturer of aircraft engines and industrial turbines. Ukrainian authorities last year blocked attempts by Chinese companies to take over the company.
