Iowa vs Nevada football game resumes after three 4-hour delays

Iowa vs Nevada football game resumes after three 4-hour delays

Well let’s try this again.

After a third delay due to weather, the Iowa Football League game with Nevada is expected to resume at 12:45 a.m. Sunday. The match began at 6:40 p.m. on Saturday.

Maybe things will be different this time.

The final showdown, just as it looked like football was returning to Kennick Stadium this evening, did Iowa and Nevada enter the third weather delay.

It came after Nevada played one game and lined up trying to score a long field goal on appeal from the second weather delay, which lasted from 10:07 p.m. to just before midnight. The first weather delay lasted from 8:36 PM to 9:56 PM

The lightning was again spotted eight miles from the field, the magic distance to ensure play was stopped. Play was previously halted at 8:36 p.m. CT, after which an 80-minute delay followed. The Hawkeyes currently have a 17-0 lead with 5:24 left in the third quarter

Saturday was a necessary offensive boost for the hockey team, who scored just 14 points during their first two games. Freshman Kaleb Johnson earned the scoring that started with a 40-yard sprint late in the first quarter. Spencer Petras found Arland Bruce IV a few minutes later at 21 yards to give Iowa a 14-0 lead. This was Petras TD’s first pass of the season.

New kicker Drew Stevens added a field goal in the second quarter to take Iowa’s lead to three points. It had been raining for the duration of the competition, but the delay wasn’t necessary until lightning crept in near Kennick Stadium.

When does the Iowa game resume from the rain delay?

At this point, who knows.

The delay looked like this.

First weather delay: 8:36 PM – 9:56 PM

Second weather delay: 10:07 PM – 11:55 PM

Third weather delay: 11:57 PM – ?????

Once a lightning strike is observed within eight miles, at least 30 minutes must pass without another lightning strike to resume play. An additional 30 minutes are added to the hour with each stroke.
