Here at Team NINJA, we are very excited to present the latest RPG, which takes you on an epic and unrestricted journey as ronin at the dawn of a new era in Japan. This was seven years ago when we first started this project. Since then, evolution has slowly and freely developed, like the spirit of ronin. It gives me great pleasure to finally bring this title to light, and we are grateful to be able to make this announcement through Play Station who have supported us and this project all these many years.

Rising of the Ronin River It is an open world action RPG that focuses on combat and takes place in Japan at a time of great change. It is the end of the 300-year Edo period, known as the “Bakumatsu”. In the late 19th century, Japan faces its darkest times as it struggles with its oppressive rulers and deadly diseases as Western influence permeates as the civil war between the Tokugawa Shogun and anti-Shogunate factions continues.

Here in this time of chaos, you embody the character of a ronin, a shackled warrior with no master and free to make his own choices. Rising of the Ronin River It is a new experience for Team NINJA that will immerse you in a world inspired by history while combining its famous combat a job With Katanas and the like, with new firearms depicting the unique character of that time period.

At Koei Tecmo we have had many nicknames in the past which were based on history. but with Rising of the Ronin RiverWe set out to take the next big step. By harnessing all the skills and knowledge we’ve gained over the years, we really wanted to take things to the next level by trying to portray the most significant revolution in Japan’s history including the darkest and ugliest chapters that many will avoid. . This is without a doubt the most ambitious and challenging project for Team NINJA Studio to date. However, we will allow our experience creating samurai and ninja games to guide us through this journey.

Along with the action elements, we will be steadfast in our efforts to create a multi-layered story that showcases the world of the Bakumatsu period and the revolution that took place. All the characters you’ll meet have their own brand of justice and motivation, and whether you decide to stand for them or against them…every decision you make will count. With new combat action and open-ended, unrestricted gameplay we look forward to releasing you as you immerse yourself like ronin.
