“ConnersSuperstar Michael Fishman is leaving ABC sitcom before season 5, diverse Made sure on.
Fishman played DJ Tanner on the series, reprising the role he played for 10 seasons on “Roseanne.” The exact details of how Fishman wrote off the show is currently under wraps, but it should leave the door open for him to come back. Jayden Rey, who plays the show’s DJ daughter Mary, will also not be returning as a series regular, although she will appear as a guest star.
John Goodman, Laurie Metcalfe, Sarah Gilbert, Lacey Goranson, Emma Kenny, Ames McNamara, JR Ferguson, and Katie Sagal will return for the new season. Sagal joined the show in its first season as Louise, a former high school classmate of Dan, Roseanne, and Jackie who eventually becomes Dan’s new wife.
Fishman began playing DJ Tanner in 1988 on the second episode of “Roseanne”. He stayed with the show for its first nine seasons, and returned with the rest of the original cast for a 2018 revival. He has also directed five episodes of “The Conners” since 2020, most recently directing the season four episode “Chaos, Bad Communication, and Academic Exam.”
“Roseanne” has been renamed “The Conners” After the departure of the series star Roseanne Barr. It is executive produced by Tom Werner, along with Gilbert, Bruce Hilford, Dave Kaplan, Bruce Rasmussen, and Tony Hernandez. The series is produced by Werner Entertainment.
The Conners returns for season 5 on ABC on September 21.
