Jennifer Lopez She revealed that her mother used to “hit” her and her siblings in her latest documentary, Half the Time.
Lopez, 52, opened up about the documentary about her childhood and the strained relationship she had with her mother, Guadalupe “Lup” Rodriguez.
“She did what she had to do to stay alive, make her strong, but also made her tough,” Lopez said (via Yahoo). “You beat us.”
“I was a far cry from the ideal mother,” Rodriguez said. “The only thing I can always say, whatever I did, I did it with their best interest.”
Lopez revealed that she and her mother argued about the singer’s education. Rodriguez insisted that the musician receive an education so that she would not have to rely on men.
“I’ve always had the highest expectations from them,” she added. “It wasn’t critical. It was just to show you can do a better job. And Jennifer, she gave me the hardest time, to tell you the truth. We screwed up a lot.”
Halftime premiered June 8 at the Tribeca Film Festival. The documentary was dropped on June 14th on Netflix.

“This is the worst idea in the world for two people to do a Super Bowl,” Lopez told her music director, (via Sports Illustrated). “It was the worst idea in the world.”

The singer’s manager, Bobby Medina, was also feeling his frustration with the NFL and his decision to have two major stars. At the end of the first half of the year 2020.
“You usually have one major title in the Super Bowl,” Medina said in the documentary. “This headline is building a show, and if they choose to have other guests, that’s their choice. It was an insult to say you needed two Latinas to do the job that one artist has historically done.”
“If it was a double title, they should have given us 20 minutes,” Lopez said in the documentary. “That’s what they should have done.”
