On Monday, January 9, 2023, twenty-four English school students from Bishop’s Stortford, located fifty kilometers north of London, arrived in Chartres, where they will spend the whole week visiting the cultural and heritage treasures of France. They participate in an exchange with ninth- and first-year students at the Institut Notre-Dame (IND) in Chartres.
French and English secondary school students were received this Wednesday, January 11, by Patrick Géroudet, Representative for International Relations, in the receptions of the Administrative Center of Chartres.
They will discover Bateaux-Mouches, the Eiffel Tower and the Palace of Versailles (Yvelines), as well as gastronomy.

Galettes des rois and pancakes
“English middle school students have already tasted French cuisine such as galette des rois, pancakes. The French mothers who host them cook with the students,” explains Misun Park, English teacher at IND.
“This weekend, some people will go laser tag with French families. It’s a really good time. »

The health crisis halted international school exchanges. Frédéric Maillard, deputy director of the IND, welcomed “the resumption of these exchanges, which have not taken place since January 2020,” with undiminished joy.
In particular it was he who initiated this partnership with the establishment of Bishop Stortford in 2005. “For twenty years I was a teacher of Spanish, Italian and French at this institution in England. As I am from Chartres, I contacted IND to start the exchange. »
Twenty-seven ninth graders and two first graders from IND will travel to England in early February.
