On Saturday 20 August 2022, an official ceremony was held to welcome the Twins’ English friends to sister city Ashburton, in the presence of Deputy Mayor Rachel Bautoiler and English Twins Manager Janet Lockwood-Lee.
In his welcome speech, Pierre Collin, the President, underlined his joy at being able to have English friends again. A minute’s silence was observed in memory of a young friend of the twins who died in a recent accident.
In addition, Pierre Collin announced that Ashburton Square will soon be transformed due to the creation of a pump park. “The stell will be moved and the trees, including the oak, will be felled from Ashburton,” announced the doubleheader.
Questions about Ashburton Square
Rachel Bautoiler is happy to welcome back English friends after two years of ill health. Later, the aide mentioned the redevelopment of Ashburton Square. “This change will have an impact on the flea market and the structure of the flea market. Some solutions have already been proposed to the committee,” said Rachel Boutoiler.
The elected official realized that the double oak tree was going to be cut down, but was being preserved while awaiting later use, so he questioned, “Why not take the form of a sculpture associated with the double oak tree?” The stele will also be relocated and other trees will be planted.
Later, Janet Lockwood-Lee reported across the channel that the twins were working to integrate new families into the group.
