The Intermedia Group Expands into New Zealand, Establishes New Custom-Publishing Division & Makes Magazine Acquisition

04 Apr 2014

Australia's leading independent business-to-business publishing company, The Intermedia Group, has today announced its expansion into New Zealand, key senior staff appointments, the launch of a custom-publishing division, Intermedia Custom, and the acquisition of Beer & Brewer magazine.

The Intermedia Group expands into New Zealand with two monthly titles, Hospitality Business and FMCG Business, which will launch in May and July 2014 respectively.

The Intermedia Group's Managing Director Simon Grover said: "The time is right for Intermedia to leverage its extensive Australian hospitality and retail credentials in the New Zealand market. With today's focus on targeted, results-based marketing, we have the opportunity to create value and deliver growth in two of the key sectors we cover.

Dale Spencer joins Intermedia as Managing Director New Zealand with more than 30 years' media experience.

Hospitality Business will cover industry news and innovation on behalf of bars, restaurants, hotels, breweries and catering. FMCG Business will target decision-makers in the supermarket, grocery, route-trade and manufacturing industries. Both titles will engage New Zealand professionals across print, digital and event formats.

In line with its business expansion, The Intermedia Group has appointed Justin Etheridge to the newly created role of Deputy Managing Director & Chief Digital Officer. Etheridge will be responsible for strategy and digital growth, working closely with Grover on the company's expansion plans, which include New Zealand.

Etheridge is the former Publisher of Time Out Middle East and co-founder of Time Out Australia, alongside Michael Rodrigues. As Group Publisher and Joint-CEO, Etheridge grew Time Out from concept, development and launch to a national offering with an online audience of 35,000 daily UBs and 3.6 million pages per month*.

Intermedia is the majority shareholder in the Time Out Australia business and Etheridge will continue as shareholder and executive director.
