|Brisbane-based The Magazine Publishing Company brought home a gold award as well as two honourable mentions from the recent 2012 Tabbie Awards.
The 2012 Tabbie Awards boasts almost 500 entries with nominations coming from the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, the United Arab Emirates, France, India, Singapore and South Africa.
The independently owned publishing house took out top honours in the Opening Page or Spread category with its Organic Touch feature in Australian Baking Business, which also received an honourable mention in the Feature Design category.
The judges were highly complimentary about the design elements that made Australian Baking Business a clear choice in their eyes, saying: "This spread is outstanding. The image and the type blend nicely. I feel invited to read the story and get to know Daniel more. LOVE IT!"
TMPC's UDIA Queensland Boral Awards for Excellence 2011 issue also received an honourable mention in the design category Front Cover - Special issue, adding yet another feather to the hat of this exceptional annual publication.
"We've won a number of Publishers Australia awards over the years, but it's great to receive recognition on the world stage," managing director Alan Kirk says.
"We only entered three awards and we received one gold award and two honourable mentions, which is a fantastic result - especially considering it's the first time we've entered the Tabbies.
"We have a great team of people working at TMPC and this award is really about them," Alan says. "The design and editorial staff who have worked on these projects have been relentless in their pursuit of excellence."
