|A new CAB Exhibition Audit Reporting Standard (EARS) will be in effect from November 30 and will be launched to market before month end, following extensive consultation with the industry.
The Exhibition Audit Review (EAR) committee of industry leaders met for the first time in June to develop a best practice audit and reporting standard ready for roll-out.
Outlining guidelines for verification of attendance, audience demographics and other vital performance statistics, the new standard considers the characteristics of both consumer and trade shows and introduces a number of new audit elements such as the core attendance metric of Unique Visitor Attendance (UVA), new attendance categories, number of brands, and pre-registered attendance as well as refining some of the old rules. The new style audit certificates will also be suitable for Organisers seeking UFI Approved Event status.
CAB business development manager Margaret Crichton, who has overseen the rule review, will be on hand at the EEAA Conference at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre on the 6th December, to answer any questions.
Crichton said: "I'd like to thank our committee members (see below) for all their help and feedback throughout the rule review process, which has been smooth sailing. I look forward to the next phase of introducing the new EARS to the industry and building on the number of events participating in Exhibition audits."
The CAB will be sponsoring the EEAA welcome drinks the night before the conference at new bar Sokyo in The Star casino.
CAB board member and EEAA president Matthew Pearce said: "We have designed the [conference] content to look at big issues related to building the value proposition for exhibitions - does it require reinvention or evolution?"
