10 Dec 2010

The advertising market in the Asia Pacific region - excluding Japan - will grow by 36 per cent between 2010 and 2013, according to the latest forecast from Zenith Optimedia.

As reported in AdNews this compares favourably to developed regions, such as North America which is up 9 per cent and Western Europe which is up 10 per cent.

Seven Asia Pacific markets - China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines and Thailand - are now showing double digit growth for 2010, with China expected to overtake Germany as the third largest ad market in 2011.

The main growth media this year in Asia Pacific has been TV (8.5 per cent) and online (15.2 per cent). Globally online now comprises 14 per cent of total ad spend, however in Asia Pacific the proportion is slightly higher at 14.9 per cent.

All major markets are showing year on year growth with Australia up 16.9 per cent, China up 30 per cent and India up 29.9 per cent. All markets are set show positive increases in TV spend this year.
