|Publishers of gay and lesbian magazines SX (Sydney), MCV (Melbourne), Queensland Pride (Brisbane), blaze (Adelaide), AXN, Cherrie and Fellow Traveller, are to launch a new weekly gay and lesbian newspaper called City Voice.
City Voice's main editorial purpose will be to inform Sydney's GLBTQ (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer) community documenting GLBTQ related news, issues, events and current affairs.
The newspaper will also strive to stimulate discussion and generate debate about issues that directly affect the local and broader GLBTQ community. In covering areas such as politics and equal rights, City Voice will also act as an advocate and campaigner for the GLBTQ community.
City Voice's primary geographical focus will be Sydney metropolitan areas with large GLBTQ populations however will also cover state, national and international stories of relevance to the readers.
Evolution Publishing's titles, which are distributed to more than 2000 cafes, nightclubs, hotels, bookstores, arts venues, theatres, cinemas, education centres and libraries throughout Australia boast a combined readership of over 9.5 million readers.
Publisher Peter Walton said: "I am extremely excited about City Voice and what it is going to offer both advertisers and readers within the GLBTQ community."
The first weekly edition will be out on June 30.
