Golf Vacations launches Aust/NZ edition

28 Sep 2009

he launch issue of Australia and New Zealand's first and only specialist golf travel magazine, Golf Vacations, goes on sale this Wednesday the 30/9/09.

The magazine features golf holiday destinations on both sides of the Tasman, as well as Fiji, Thailand, China, Hawaii and Scotland. Separate sections are dedicated to food and wine, stay and play properties, cruising, golf and leisure products. Former Wallabies captain John Eales is the magazine's first celebrity golfer and an interview with tour pro Peter Senior, who is about to tackle the US seniors tour, rounds out the 124-page launch issue.

More than 20,000 copies of Golf Vacations have been distributed to newsagents, airline lounges, business centres at leading hotels, golf resorts and stay-and-play properties throughout Australia and New Zealand. It is also being included in travel packs for participants in Australian Masters Golf Tours, Melbourne Cup Golf Tours, the NZ Golf Cruise and the Mitsubishi Masters, an amateur event being held on the Gold Coast in late October with 1000 players.

Participants in the annual ASX Thomson Reuters Charity golf day, of which Golf Vacations is a sponsor, will also receive a copy.

"Interest in the magazine has been building for almost six months since we announced our decision to publish the title, and it is satisfying to have now successfully fulfilled those expectations," says publisher, Anthony Gallagher, the principal of Sydney-based Global Publishing Pty Ltd, which also publishes the quarterly travel magazine Vacations & Travel.

Golf Vacations Australia/New Zealand edition is the fourth licensed edition of the magazine that has been published in Singapore for more than 20 years. Other licencees are in Hong Kong/Macau, China, Malaysia and the Czech Republic.

The launch issue of Golf Vacations carries 30 pages of advertising and Anthony Gallagher says bookings are strong for the second issue, to be published in January 2010.
